PRESENTATION MEANS A LOT!
As we all know, when searching for the right college team, the first thing volleyball coaches always request a ‘skills/game’ tape. They want to see the prospective student-athlete in ‘action’.
The dilemma of what to show and how much can be mind boggling. Lee seems to have mastered it well! More than one coach commented that we showed ‘just enough’ to get them interested.
The whole point of the tape is to get these coaches out to see your daughter play! The DVD Lee produced for us was VERY successful in meeting that goal. Here are the schools that responded by coming out to see Marya play (out of a dozen DVDs mailed):

University of New Hampshire - Came to Nationals in July
University of Rhode Island - Came to Nationals in July
Bucknell University - Came to Nationals in July
Cornell University - Came to Las Vegas in Feb and Nationals in July
Lehigh University - Came to Nationals in July
University of West Virginia - Came to Las Vegas in Feb
UNC Wilmington - Came to Nationals in July
Washington University - Came to Nationals in July
Steve Santonastaso, the assistant volleyball coach at URI, sought us out at the Nationals in Atlanta, to tell us how impressed he was by Marya’s presentation on her DVD AND told us the DVD was the reason he came to see her!
Coach Richard Luenemann of Washington University in St. Louis offered Marya a spot on his roster, without ever seeing her actually … because he could see by the DVD, that Marya was his kind of player!
The choreographed music and playing in the beginning really sold most of these coaches and gave them a wonderful impression of our daughter. The added ‘personal profile’ spoken by Marya was very helpful in showing her confidence in herself and her ability to communicate as well as play … also an essential skill in any sport.
We are very pleased and credit Lee with helping our daughter, Marya, find a college team that is a good fit for her!
